I wouldn't worry too much about this. I only heard last year that Id got an interview a week after some of my friends heard and they had submitted the same day as me.

Only KPMG, PWC and Deloitte have sent out theirs so far. E&Y will be next week. I have all three so far and its causing serious scheduling issues as the KPMG interview is the same day as the PWC lunch and an exam in college.

...I wonder how bad it is to miss the lunch

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24 jg72

Just wondering does anyone know any of them send a letter or invite out. I got a phone call but was so surprised I can barely remember a word that was said!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10 npj85

Hi folks is it fair to say that if you haven't heard anything at this stage that you wont be getting through to interview stage or are PWC still contacting people?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,375 ✭✭✭Pandoras Twist

They follow up the phone calls with emails

My friend said E&Y just called him 5 minutes ago

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6 SM2010

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,375 ✭✭✭Pandoras Twist

TBH im not expecting anything at this stage, the times ive got interviews off them in the past i've heard by the weekend after the deadline, or the monday at the latest.

I think undergrads seem to get more interviews for some reason anyway.

Mine sorta went a bit differently as the Partner who sat beside me at the lunch ended up being my interviewer  So all the easy stuff about my interests and hobbies was sort of glossed over cos he said "ah sure we talked about that the other day..." There were two interviewers but the partner pretty much did all the talking and the manager sat saying nothing for most of it.

We had a sort of general chat about myself first, then on to why I chose to get into Accounting, this went on for a while as I was originally a Communications student so he was asking me things like "Why didn't you go into Marketing instead?"

We then talked about my work experience, how i deal with customers, complaints etc. Then about college and working in a group

You'll mostly be elaborating on what is on your application for so make sure you know it like the back of your hand because they can take it in any direction, and I think its based on how well you actually deal with the random questions they ask rather than what you actually say.

Make sure you know a few of the PWC clients, they'll ask you that, and they may ask you about what current business news story interests you. Good luck.

When should you expect a response if you're going to get one?
Do they let you know if your interview was unsucessful.
I have pwc next week and deloitte week after.

I'm an irish student attending a US university, with a strong CV. I applied to the Big 4 in Ireland. I stated in my application that I would be in Ireland to interview in December. I havent heard anything yet, should I assume I've been denied?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 198 ✭✭linola_c

Does anyone know how many graduates pwc are taking on this year in tax? When i was booking my interview, i noted that there was only 12 slots to pick from? Is the luch you attend only for your stream? ie tax/assurance etc?

    Hey there,

Now don't quote me on this, but when talking to a PwC girl at the Grad Fair at the RDS she mentioned they'd be taking roughly 20 in tax....She was only a trainee herself though, so take from that what you will!

I've just withdrawn my application for tax as I've had an offer from elsewhere - so at least that's one less competitor!

    Good luck.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 198 ✭✭linola_c

Great!!!and good for you of course!

Sorry to ask another question, but any idea how many they interview?

    Thanks :)

Well the offers have to be given out by November 26th because of the rules for set out by the Institute of Chartered Accountants, and people have to accept by the 10th of December so I would say that is why you haven't heard anything back

That's not true! It might be the recruitment policy of one or two firms, but most firms don't even start interviewing til well after Christmas!

That is what KPMG and all the other big 4 said anyway.

Grant Thornton and Mazars are the other two that I know are doing their interviews now and giving out their offers by the 26th

Yeah I'm confused also I know some earlier people said they got offers within a day or 2. I have pwc tomorrow so hopefully I'll get something outa that.

mine is tomo either! I assume that if you havent heard any news from them by that date, you failed.. but if they are happy with your performance, they will give you the offer any time before that date...:o

Some people get offers a day or 2 after interviews, but obviously they cant give out all their places before they interview everyone, so you may be waiting a week or 2, depends how impressed with ya they are i suppose!!:D

Yeah I did mine in Galway last thurs, and got a call friday morning! But they had finished their galway interviews by then! I'd say it will be different with Dublin interviews, because they have so many to get through! Either way, I'd say you should hear back from them within a week or so of interviewing!

I would say about 5 or 6 from my class got offers so far, about 12 or 13 maybe got interviews. I'd say though that even the ones who haven't can hold out hope, they're obviously just waiting to see what the standard is like in Dublin before offering more to people from other places!

    Best of luck!!:D:D

I said BY the 26th. That's the last day they'll send out replies, but they are ringing people back within a day or two.

I did my Deloitte interview yesterday and got an offer today. :)
