I've connected a hose to my intake manifold and put a few litres of water through the engine while it was running. Wouldn't recommend it for most people though ;)

Engine flush is sometimes used to clean the old oily muck out of your engine ! Its not usually necessary unless you missed or delayed an oil change and haven't changed the oil within the recommended service intervals . If Oil isn't changed on time it starts to breakdown and leave Sludge and deposits inside your engine .( A bit like cholesterol build up) .

Engine Flush will help remove the old muck before you refill with new oil at service time.

I did it before my last oil change. The engine was a little tappety and i was told it might help...it didn't

I just bought the stuff in the local car factors. Threw it into the engine and let it run on a high idle for a while and then changed the oil.

Unless your car is jumping from the top rope with a flying elbow, don't take car advice from a wrestling magazine.

Engine flushes are dependant on the engines condition. A lot of cars don't need them. Regular servicing does the job.

I wouldn't use it unless the oil is like sludge, never know what's going to dislodge and block an oilway.

Throw in diesel engine oil of the correct spec and viscosity for 2000 miles or so with a fresh filter, nice gentle flush, not cheap though.

Thats what I use to do years ago and it's very good.

I poured about 300ml of diesel into a 96 colt and let it idle for 15 mins before changing the oil.

You could literally hear the engine becoming smoother for the first couple of mins, used to idle at about 950, smooth as silk at 600 afterwards.

Probably a bad idea for newer cars but worked a charm on that old girl ;)
