For some strange reason the links to the draw have disappeared! You will be directed instead to the BDO home page and the draw can be found there. Anyway all the best to the Irish players competing tomorrow in the qualifiers, hopefully we'll have a representative in Lakeside next January.

decent draws for most the irish lads there. International qualifiers? Is this how it was done last year?

This is the 1st year of this new format. It was probably brought in to boost the amount of international players in the line up considering the line up is made up of mostly British players this year.

Interesting to see Mansell attempting this as well. Two World Championships in one christmas if he succeeds. Fair dues to him

Can he legally compete in both? I didn't think it was possible tbh. Doesn't he have to sign with the pdc therefor making him ineligable to play bdo?

The BDO have been doing that for years I used to link their competitions to my website when I set it up years ago and they kept changing the link ans have been doing it ever since and probably before that, still in the dark ages that lot they should be happy people are taking an interest in their tournaments and stop being childish.

As far as I know he has until a certain date to accept the PDC invitation to play in the world championship, then he has to sign. If he qualifies for Lakeside too he will have to make a choice in which tournament he will play.

Unfortunately Ireland will have no representative in Lakeside next January. Sean McGowan was the furthest Irish player on the day reaching the quarter finals where he was beat 2-1 by Belgian Kim Huybrechts.

Arno Merk from Germany is the 1st international qualifier through after beating Huybrechts 2-1 in semi final. Shaun Griffiths a 17 year old from Lancashire is the 1st BDO qualifier.

The 2 international qualifiers are German Arno Merk and Jan Dekker from Holland. The 2 ladies qualifiers are Lorraine Farlam from England and Patricia de Peuter from Belgium. Shaun Griffiths has qualified from the BDO qualifiers with 1 more place to be filled. Losing semi finalists in the mens international and BDO qualifiers will play off to determine a standby player. The losing semi finalists in the womens will play off against 1 another to determine their standby player.

Scotland's Alan Soutar won the other BDO qualifier place.

Sean was very unlucky to lose that game. It could have gone to a tiebreak leg but for a couple of bad shots. He'd played mighty all day.
