Sex.com internet domain name sold for $13m

The sex.com internet domain has been sold for $13m (£8.2m)
The domain was put up for auction in July 2010 when its former owner, Escom LLC, went bankrupt.
    Was it worth it. ;)

    Never been to that site.

I never understood those reports saying that 'sex' was the most searched for term on search engines.

Who the hell searches for just the word 'sex'?

How the hell can you go bankrupt with such a popular domain name? Stick a few adverts on it and it'll rake in quite a bit of revenue per month. Sell sex related products etc, and that could jump to several hundred thousands.
