    heard a rumour that if you ask quinn for a "corporate rate " when renewing policy ,you get a huge discount.I am renewing soon and wondering if anyone has any info .Cheers!!;)

    Not a rumour, there were a couple of newspaper articles about this a few weeks ago (too lazy to find the links, sorry :))

    Just ask your insurer for the corporate equivalent of your current plan. I don't know what the price differences are (it varies on plans and insurers), but it can't hurt to ask.

    Before making the change, get your insurer to confirm what benefit differences there are between the two and also check the cost per adult and per child/student. It might be the case that the child rate is lower on the non-corporate plan, and there's no reason you can't have adults on corporate and keep the children on non-corporate.

    Under open enrolment, anyone can join any plan, corporate or not.

    All this is seperate from the group discount of 10%. Quinn have done away with that discount, but Aviva and VHI still have it for most of their plans and members.

    Finally the Health Insurance Authority's website, www.hia.ie, has a product comparison tool that lets you find plans similar to what you have. Also, their Latest News section is keep for keepiong track of new plans and special offers (price cuts, etc).

    Just ask for their 'Quinn company care' schemes, i think they have three levels of cover you can choose from within it.

    Everyone is entitled to purchase a company plan but group discount is at the company's discretion despite what news paper articles have said. Just because a company plan might be cheaper doesn't mean the benefits are necessarily better. If you reduce your cover, you may have to serve a further waiting period if you upgrade again once 13 weeks passes.
