    Just installed it, amazing. You can call a Mac from your iPhone via an email address that's set up as a FaceTime number and in turn you can call an iPhone from your Mac, FaceTime syncs with your contacts and you just click away you go.

    I tried calling a couple of iPhone 4's last night and it wouldn't connect as the iPhone 4's didn't have ios 4.1 they were running off 4.01 and 4.02

    How does this differ from the current Skype app, does it add any extra functionality?

    You can call phone numbers free on the iPhone 4. With Skype you have to purchase Skype Credit.

    So with facetime I can make enabled iphone to iphone calls for free and it just comes off my data plan?

    It doesn't work over 3G at the moment, only wifi.

    If you have Cydia installed you can get a free trial of My3G which allows you to use FaceTime as well as some other apps, over 3G. You can also call install FaceTime on a Mac, if you have one, and make or receive calls from there.
