Workers have been called in for a meeting this morning with regards to cuts.

Have a few friends that work there, so am hoping that if cuts get made that the company can survive by taking a % from wage bills rather than shedding lots of jobs.

With around 800 working there, it would be another big blow to the region if it started cutting jobs.

Why did the Media know before the Workers?

    - News bulletin much earlier said that it was to be announced to them later today but still could quote the figures involved and everything ......

I think it was named after the River Shannon

    - Or else just Aerospace in general, anyway, neither is exclusively a Banner County thing.... :P

I think it's named after the airport or the town, which are exclusively Clare things :D Their website even has their address as Clare http://www.shannonaerospace.com/shannonaerospace/company/company.html :p

Hopefully people can see my sarcasim above, on a serious note, it's a big blow to the REGION, not just to Clare, 107 people directly affected, as someone who has been made redundant in the past and survivied a company that made a lot of people redundant I know that it's not a nice situation to be in for anyone

Most companies release a press relase to the media put but a time on it so they can't release it before a specific time, so they have the details but can't discuss them, they can talk about vague numbers

You wouldn't have Shannon airport or Shannon town if its wasnt for Foynes!!!!

Now back to matters at hand. This is awful news for the people working there. If it were me and I was qualified I would be now looking to get a sponsored VISA for the USA or Australia as Im sure qualified Aircraft People are not exactly ten a penny.
