    Note:

    Pwnage does not like it if you have a sim pin. Turn it off before going through with the jailbreak!

    N.B. This is for jailbreaking only.

    ULTRASN0W UNLOCKERS BEWARE!! ULTRASN0W UNLOCKERS BEWARE!! The biggest mistake you can make (and it is a big one!) is lettings iTunes restore to the official IPSW — you’ll lose the unlock and won’t be able to go back! You must use Option-Restore, not just the Restore button by itself. Then navigate to your custom IPSW — not to the stock one! If you accidentally started a restore to the official IPSW, unplug your iPhone immediately before the restore gets to the “Updating Firmware” step!

    I can jailbreak fine but how do you unlock it. I dont have any previous basebands stored as iv never owned an iphone bar the one i just bought. Its locked to 3.

    You could try just upgrade to 4.1 with the Pwnage tool and try to unlock with Ultrasnow in Cydia.

    If you updated to 4.1 in the official way (clicking update or restore in iTunes without using pwnage) then I think you've lost your unlock. The baseband (chip that controls the sim) software that comes with 4.1 hasn't been unlocked yet.
