    Hi All,
hope you can all offer good advice :)
I have been working and studying straight for the past 2 years, so the fitness has taken a back seat.
Final exam on friday, so weekend to relax take a load off and then start fresh next week on a new healthy lifestyle.

    Overview:
I am 27, 5'8", 13.5 stone and had never been above 11 stone in my life before, so thats the goal - a longterm goal.

I was always one of those naturally thin people, that never had to bother, which changed as i got older.

I need advice as i have no idea where to start???

im sure i need to join a gym and change the diet but any advice on what i should do and start with would be great.

thinking of joining carlisle gym as it is close to home. but apart from that, that is the only Plan i have, oh maybe weight watchers too.

Im open to all suggestions, ill try anything, I just want to get back to feeling like myself again.

thanks and i look forward to any help anyone can suggest.

    Hi Superhoopess

Although a bit older than you :o I had a similar type weight gain. I went from 10.5 stone to 13 Stone and I'm 5'7 in little over 2 years. I would always have been a very fit person and would have taken a lot of exercise. Chicken & egg situation with the weight - not too much fun carrying 13st, so it piled on without exercise.

I'm going to Weight Watchers now which I find excellent and I've just lost about 2 stone in the last 10 weeks which was not that difficult really. I've also got into a routine of 1 hrs brisk walking EVERY day. I have about 1 more stone to lose to reach my target weight which I hope to have done by Christmas.

As for joining a gym - I used to be a member of Carlisle which I found really souless and ending not going there a lot. I much prefer getting out in the fresh air. Of course the more weight you lose, the more you enjoy exercise!

If you want to join a gym, you should have a look at the Swan Leisure Centre in Rathmines (owned by Dublin City Council). Its just opened and looks very good, though I have not yet used it. Reasonable charges as well as you can go Pay As you Go or take out an annual sub for €360.

I hope that is of some help to you. Best of luck.

Join the gym; don't think about it, just do it. Eat less of whats bad for you and more of what's good for you. Just take it from there. Simples:D
