    Guys, advice please from you hardned mac followers;

    An 11 inch mac book air, is being released and a 13inch version too. It seems with many ipad functions and hardware similarities, so does this rule out a bigger ipad? and what’s the benefit of an ipad compared to the new 11inch mac book air. I was all set to buy an ipad and now am not so sure; the macbook seems just as functional with bigger memory, very light and compact, face time camera, great software, good battery life. Will a new ipad next year bring the mac book and ipad a step closer in terms of camera and storage? Any thoughts on this before I splash out 500 yo yo on an ipad

    Cheers

    They'll probably be announcing the new iPad in January.

    They're still pretty differentiated devices, you still need a proper computer to run an iPad off while the Air is a standalone device. Also, all the new software stuff shown today (bar facetime and the app store) won't be out until next summer, and you'll have to pay for the update to OSX Lion. The new iPad will probably launch in April/May with cameras and bigger storage, but I doubt they'll be releasing bigger or smaller screen sizes.

    It depends what you want to do, the iPad doesn't do as much but it's not meant to, it's cheaper, smaller, lighter, and less complex, but has better battery life. If all you want to do is email, games, and web I would probably say iPad, otherwise get the Air.
