Afaik music (unlike apps) are non transferable so you'll need to download them again thru iTunes or by "other" means...

And remember, even if its only CD's you've imported, back up your files.

I had to do a systems recovery and lost all the cd's I had imported and had to re-do it. Since I've also started downloading from iTunes, I regularly back my music files up to an external hard drive

I believe if you email Apple and ask nicely they will authorise a mass redownload of any songs purchased from the iTunes store, but technically I think they don't have to and don't do it more than once or twice.

    Backup!

Is the music actually gone or has your iTunes library just been blanked? Search your computer, it may still be there somewhere.

The most common places iTunes will keep it is in the iTunes folder in your Music/My Music folder.
