Wedding Ring Question...

Question about a wedding ring... I have a ring my grandad gave me when I was 16, it's a mix of Gold and Rose Gold.

I was thinking for my wedding ring to get the ring melted down and formed into a band. Is this possible? It's styled like this (only looks nothing like that but has a flat bit on top with initials on it)

I was thinking of getting it redone into a simple plain band as thats all I want...

I know someone who had an heirloom wedding ring - he had much bigger hands than the grandmother he got it from, but he had it incorporated into his wedding band. The new bit was white gold, and the older one was stretched into it, and it looked very well.

In short, I'd think you can get it changed.

One other thing, though, just be sure that you want to get it reshaped!

i previously recommended helena malone to people on here and i don't know if they approached her but i'll say the same to you, she did a fantastic job making my engagement ring with my own stones (and making a pendant from the left over metal) and she is going to make our wedding rings too... she doesn't charge huge amounts to meltdown and reshape items, i think this is largely to do with the fact she is outside dublin (portlaoise).. look up her site and give her an email, she is very open and really approachable..

i think you can go and look at some of her stuff in design house (was there earlier this year anyway) if you can't make it down to her own showroom...

best of luck, friends of mine recently had their rings made from rose gold and they are so beautiful!
