    Hello,

I'm looking for 15mm outside diameter copper pipe with 1mm wall thickness. The only pipe I could find has 0.7mm wall thickness.

The pipe I'm looking for is per EN1057-R220 Standard or former BS 2871 Table Y.

Does anybody know where I can buy this type of pipe (preferably in the Cork area)?

    Any help is appreciated,

    Regards,
    Hagen

Hi Hugo, You dont seem to be having look with the copper pipe. :(

Although rec's are not allowed this i think comes under every one's interest.

perhaps if you could describe what your using it for someone might have a suggestion as to an alternative...

    If this is acceptable...

    Hi Joey,

I simply need it for plumbing. Since the building is question is a timber construction solder joints (my preferred option) are not possible. That only leaves compression fittings. I.m.h.o the 0.7mm wall thickness pipes normally sold in this country are not suitable for compression fittings; even with inserts. Only half hard or hard pipe with at least 1mm wall thickness can be used reliably.

I found 2 dealers that can get them within 3 weeks; after asking again those 3 weeks turned into 6 weeks and maybe I get them next year or year after next. Items more than 2.4 meters in length are difficult to ship; the coiled pipe is soft, hence not usable.

What do you mean by recommendations are not allowed? Is it not allowed to ask if somebody knows where to buy a specific item? I'm not asking "what is the best brand of fridge"....

Please do not post recommendations for alternatives like quick fit connectors, plastic pipe a.s.o.

    Kind Regards,
    Hagen

What cant you use standard copper and just adapt the final pce... It will make it easier for plumbing work later.

Not really. Stuff available to protect against that.

I was going to reply to this thread previously but with the tone of the OP's last post I didn't really see the point.

Nobody is using copper these days in domestic installations in this country due to large inflation in price, hence the difficulties in obtaining non standard piping. Best to actually ask someone qualified for advice, rather than deciding that 0.8mm pipe is not suitable for compression fittings "imho". I've never heard such things.

It's too specific a question to expect a decent reply on an internet board.

i would consider making life simple for yourself now and in the future... Use standard copper pipe and compression or solder fittings...

Most solder joints are made away from the point of use anyway..

yes i thought it was weird the op not wanting to solder in a timber frame house -if thats the case we cant solder near drywall or timber floors etc

anyone soldering plumbing pipes will or should always use a fire shield/ blanket wrap

    Hello all,

I am actually looking for STANDARD pipe, EN1057 standard to be more precise, as it is used and can be easily obtained all over Europe.

I do not want to get into a discussion why it has to be this pipe and not other pipes or other techniques. I am using this pipe because it is the only one that can be used with compression fittings to give a reliable connection over 30-40 years lifetime. This is checked by testing with 10 bar above maximum operating pressure; normally 16 bar. Other techniques used in Ireland do not fulfill those criteria. Insurance claim statistics are a clear proof of this.

And I do not use open flames inside a timber construction. A lot of people do, I don't, for obvious reasons. Compression fittings are my second choice; solder connections (when done properly) have much higher reliability. Compression fittings are illegal in many European countries inside walls/ceilings and that is for good reason.

I had hoped that somebody here on this forum may know where I can buy this type of pipe. The suppliers I contacted that may order it for me didn't seem to be too interested either, despite the quantity required (can't be too much of a recession here then). Therefore I see myself forced to order it abroad.

Thank you to everybody who tried to help,
    Kind Regards,
    Hagen

Did you source the 15mm copper as I am stuck for a bit 300mm (12 inches) long .Thanks Joe .

    Hello Joe,

yes, I imported 100m pipe EN1057 standard 15x1mm from abroad. Surprisingly none of the Irish dealers seemed to be interested in the business. I think it's called recession.

    Kind Regards,
