Lights issue with Laguna

I have a 06 renault laguna 1.6 and for the last few weeks my head lights have been automatically turning on (full) when I start the engine, this is intermittent so not the automatic lights that are on some cars, i am unable to turn off the lights either until the engine is off.
I would always have my lights on anyway so it's not that I would want to turn them off just to do it myself! Nothing has been changed in the car so this is a new phenomenon.

Is there automatic lights in the car? Check on stalk to see if there is an A symbol

if there is a button on the end of the stalk, hold this down for 3-5 seconds when the engine is not turned on. You'll hear a beep and the auto light will be disabled.

Its a pahase two Laguna II so the way to de-activate the automatic headlights (if fitted) is by starting the car, on the stalk where you would usually turn on the lights, twist it fully forward and fully back TWICE in quick succession and a message should show up that automatic lights activated or de-activated. Yes I'm an anorak. The way to know if there are auto lights on the laguna, if you have a big chunky rear view mirror housing, (this is where the sensor lives) chances are they're standard in the model you have.:D
