    Hi,

Just wondering if anyone knows the thresholds? My mothers brother died recently so just wondering on her behalf. Is it €43,400 tax free and after that the rate is 25% taxed. She would be Group 2 as far as I am aware. €43,400 tax free seems quite low though.

    Thanks,

    Pat

As far as I am aware it €41,481, and anything after that will be taxed at a rate of 25%. This is if she has never recieved any gifts, inhertance from anyone in group 2. if she has it will be lower again or if the total is over the €41,481 she will be taxed on the full amount.
