I have a 04 1.9d berlingo at the moment i have a kind of whining noise this happens when i accelerate or decelerate and you get a slight sound of the noise when you are driving, this noise is more noitcable when when accelerate quickly while if your more gradual with the pedal you dont notice it as much.
any one got any idea what this could be?

Does the whining only happen when the wife is in the van? :D

But seriously - is the whining noise related to engine speed or road speed?

Its french, and they're always whining. It could be a million and one things, driveshaft, pulley, turbo, bearing, etc etc. Type out the sound it makes and maybe someone can be more sure what it is.:)

you dont get the noise when ticking theres no when noise when your traveling at a constant slow road speed but you'd get it while pulling up a hill at a slow speed when you need to use more acceleration its hard to describe i hope that helps

Did you do the release bearing at the same time? Could be gearbox related, but janey mack, its hard enough to pin down a noise when you're looking right at a yoke, never mind down 120 miles of copper cable and a wifi. I've a dispatch(same engine) and I find turning up the stereo cures a multitude of its faults.

all was to be done when the clutch went in but the clutch never felt the same since slight wee shudder when taking off,i know what your saying noises to one could mean diffrent to others, and yes turning up the radio solves the problem:)

Hard to say without hearing it but sounds like it might be gearbox/clutch.
