Help required re AIB crisis

I am doing a study on the banking crisis with particular emphasis on AIB and their collapse. I am wondering what is the view of the forum as to why AIB(in particular) got into the difficulties they now find themselves. I am particularly thinking of the annual reports up to 2007 and how healthy they looked and suddenly they were in trouble with very little warning, or should that be they were always in trouble and suddenly time ran out. I cannot follow how a large corporation went from being Mr Universe to being the sick old man of Europe.
I would be grateful for any observsations:confused:

So you expect other people to do your work for you? Not much of a study, is it? Unless you've been under a rock for the last 10 years the reasons should be very, very obvious.

in that case, consider choosing something else to study.

Robert Pollin, a US economist was asked "If stimulus works, why is unemployment so high"?

Why? Well, because both on the parts of borrowers and lenders, they don't see the advantage, because the markets are so weak, so they don't see—well, why should I gamble, why should I risk my money in this lousy economy?

"my money" -- this is the belief of bankers and politicians today.

it's your money and your childrens money they're using to pay themselves bonuses and large pensions for being involved in organized fraud ...they could care less what you think, they're probably laughing.

they travel the world spending your money on high living while you get evicted and kicked out on the street.

I observe that if you're resorting to asking questions which have very obvious answers even to lay observers of the Irish economy on an internet forum in order to research an essay, you're probably studying the wrong subject.
