    Well all,
Here we are sitting with great patience whilst "the powers that be" decide our futures. I was just wondering if there was any chance of a november intake? And if there was would we be getting a letter or a call soonish? I wonder because the more I think about it, the more uptight I get about it! I am having a hard time waiting any longer. It's been 4 years! Anyone else pulling hair out and wondering the same as me? I guess if there are calls going out we should start getting ourselves in shape for it. Running anyone? hehe.:P

Anyone else been trying to work out if they'll get the call when intakes are announced? I must say I've done it, gone through in my head different scenarios, I'm through everything with my medical passed and vetting cleared, so I just can't help but wonder.

Was thinking about a November intake, but the calls would have to go out in the next week in order to allow everyone the full 4 week notice periods - that enough time to get a few 3 mile runs in?

I'm probably much like yourself stoic. Head to work everyday, whilst at the back of my mind there is always the hope that the phone will ring! But hey, we've waited this long!! Another few weeks / months won't kill us:rolleyes:

Do squads normally start every four weeks or what way does that work?

Ive heard that there are no intakes for july hols or xmas, but does that apply for the whole month of July and Dec?

I have a major family holiday booked for Feb and would hate to hate to cancel if I got the call. Not to mention the grief I would get from my missus......Arghh.

Maybe I'm being too optimistic, but just thinking ahead. Lowish merit placing would suggest intake no1 or no2 for me if successful methinks.

Squads are every 4 - 5 weeks , to my knowledge they do not have a July or Decmeber intake.

Regarding holidays booked , etc my personal opinion is that anyone seeking to defer their start date for such a thing needs their head examined - although all rumours point toward several more intakes betwwen now and spring this is by no means certain and we should all remember that there has been no official announcement.

Imagine someone defers from the February intake due to a holiday and then they get back discover that there will be no more intakes thereafter - who would not feel a numpty in those circumstances ?

If lucky enough to get the call then seize it with both hands.

I'm not sure if they will let you defer for a holiday, I had a friend who was deferring for a month because he was getting married and he had to practically beg them to let him!!! I also have a big family holiday booked for easter but will be ringing external appointments to ask questions before the full balance is paid!!

The Rumor Mill..... I think this whole place feels like a rumor mill sometimes. But I think the fact that we are all on here says something. We all want to know, and we all want to get hired. But at least we all have that in common and we are suffering together, collectively instead of on our own. I suppose in a strange sort of way, its a form of teamwork. A good sign. Well I think with the buget out, things are a little more clear in terms of funding. I can only use a bit of deductive reasoning here, but it makes sense I think. I think we will know more shortly. But the waiting is killer.... isn't it?

Was just thinking that I do remember from a few sources that October was mentioned as having a significance with regard to 'half yearly' PSNI budgets or something, or indeed some sort of review of a recruitment nature... maybe someone could shed some light on this ?

I think that was more to do with the Chancellors spending review announced the other day and how it would impact spending in Norn Iron . I don't think it related specifically to the P.S.N.I. budget.

i thought i would take the bull by the horns so i rang appointments there and asked if they could shed any light on further intakes. they said they still haven't been advised of anything beyond the October intake so I'd say its pretty doubtful theres going to be a November intake! I think we're looking at after christmas at least guys!!

    JP,
Yea you are probably right. Its getting on a bit for there to be a november intake but I guess we can still hope. Looks like we'll have to hope for sometime early in the newyear. Waiting really is a killer. But if no one else has heard anything then, no news is good news. There is still this week I guess. I am having a hard time being positive.:p
