I've looked through boards.ie and checked on the internet to find information on how stable Limera1n is.

Can any Boards.ie Apple members tell me any details or problems with Limera1n.

    I've a 3GS running 4.1 firmware.

Well, I used it with out any problems on a 3Gs (4.1) yesterday, but I could not for love nor money get it to work on my iPhone 4 (4.1).

I had no issues with my Iphone 4 with 4.1 on it (i used the it the minute it was out)
my OH has a 3gs with 4.1 (no issues used a couple of days later when it was all cleaned up)
and her friend just tried it with her 3g and again so far no issues!

    Hi

3GS on 4.1, not any major problems but noticed bit slow getting out of apps etc

But could be something I installed.

on iPhone4 running 4.1 I couldn't get it to work initially. Claimed to have run successfully but no Cydia on install screen (after reboot and all).

Later on tried greenpo1son which also didn't work.... then tried limera1n again, and this time it did work successfully

Didn't cause any issues and never needed to restore, just didn't get the limera1n screen on boot and no cydia installed.

    Hi naasrd,

Why did you use Greenpois0n and not Limera1n?

Is there much of a difference between the two?

    Hey Guys

I'm using spirit JB on my Iphone 3gs with 3.13 firmware atm. I have been delaying upgrading to 4.0 OS. Now that this Limera1n is out, do you think it will be safe for me to update my firmware via Itunes and re-jailbreak with Limera1n.
I have my ssh details stored on cydia .
Any help is much appreciated :)

I'd wait another few days for Pwnage tool. I think its a much safer bet and its coming any day now! What i find with the other forms of jailbreak is they release them and fix any problems after. With Pwnage tool they release it when its ready, and only then so 99.9% of the time you don't have to worry

Three major advantages appear to be:

    the preservation of bootrom exploit
that it works with existing Carrier Unlock solution
you don't have to have the stupid limera1n logo at startup.
it will have support for all 4.0 devices.

There's a little bit of lag going back to the homescreen from some apps, and a little bit more battery drain but as a previous poster said it could be to do with the apps installed. Working fine iphone 4 4.1

edit: there's no limera1n logo at startup btw.

It was Greenpois0n RC4 that jailbroke mine yesterday. Limera1n never could do it for some reason

No reason apart from waiting on them to release a mac version for a while.

OK I jailbroke tonight with Limera1n. It worked 1st time. Now I have a problem of signal strength on my O2 carrier. Its fluctuating between 1 bar - 3 bars is that normal on OS4. Before the update i was getting 4-5 bars signal.

Is this the first time you've had a 4.x iOS on your phone? If so Apple changed how the signal if calculated (well, fixed it) and now it shows the actual signal. You can read about it here.

Big time... Have to say though, I haven't had any major signal drops anywhere since upgrading.

is there any jailbreak available for the iphone4 on 4.2?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,534 ✭✭✭✭guil

Yes Redsnow but it's tethered which means anytime it turns off ya need to run Redsnow on a pc again to turn it back on
