Curacao

I'm currently working in the Netherlands, where I've heard many of my colleagues mention Curacao as a popular Carribean island. I can get a cracking deal on a 9 night stay in a 5 star resort with flights from Amsterdam and I'm going to book in the next few days.

I know that Curacao is not on the usual radar for Irish holidaymakers, but I'm wondering if anyone has travelled there before, or if you have any tips for the island.

Never stay in Curacao(only stopped there on the way back from Aruba) if the airport is anything to go by its underdeveloped compared to the next island over Aruba. You could probably get a good deal for Aruba from Amsterdam. The Hyatt or the Radission are nice location for a relaxing holiday, if you get them at the right price.

From what I read, Curacao enjoys one of the highest standards of living in the Carribean due to it's historical connections with the Netherlands.

Anyway, we got an 11 day stay in a lovely little luxury hotel, the Kura Hulanda, with premium economy flights from Amsterdam for €2,550 for the two of us.

    Looking foward to it now!

Its probably very similar to Aruba I think both were Dutch colonies. Either way I'm sure you will have a great time.

Looks like a good deal - what website did you use?

I used Kras.nl - only downside is that it's all in Dutch. But as I'm currently working in Amsterdam, I have lots of Dutch folk to help me.

Several of my colleagues have travelled with them before, so I was reassured. In addition, I rang their call centre with several questions, and all the operators I dealt with had more than enough English to answer my questions.

Just back from a Caribbean cruise and visited 9 islands. Curacao was the nicest, far nicer than aruba imho which seems very commercial. My advice is to jump at the chance to go (especially for cheap), bring sunscreen and have a go on the bridge. You'll understand the last one when you get to Willemstad! Enjoy
