I started the couch to 5k last April and worked my way up to two 7k runs and a third 8k run per week.

I had problem with sore knees and hips but they all settled down a couple of months back.

Three weeks ago I got a pain above the heel on my right foot to the right of the achillies tendon but not as high up as the ankle. I was walking down the stairs after getting out of bed when I got the pain. It was the morning after running

After taking almost three weeks off the pain is almost gone but not entirely. When walking up hills carrying a back pack it swelled up again last week a couple of times.

Anyone know what this might be? I should probably go to a physio but previous pains have settled after resting and switching to swimming instead. Also, they are pretty expensive.

Sorry OP but asking for a diagnosis on any forum on Boards.ie as this breaches the "Seeking Medical Advice" rule and so this thread has been closed.

The only advice that can safely be given on the forum, as you yourself alluded to in your posts title is to check with a physio or yoru GP.
