FISRT HOME TURF FIGHT FOR RISING MMA FIGHTER

Chris McDonald will make his first ever Northern Ireland MMA fight appearance on the CWC - Validation show in the Odyssey Arena on Dec 10th. McDonald who was born and bred in Northern Ireland and now lives in Jamaica promises to deliver fireworks inside the Cage Wars Championship cage. " I have been fighting all over the world and this is my first opportunity to fight in front of the Northern Ireland MMA fans, I am pumped about the opportunity to be back home and entertain my home crowd and for the opportunity to do that with Cage Wars Championship"

" Chris is a great fighter and he has been looking for the opportunity to fight on home soil and he obviously wants to do that on Northern Irelands and Europe's premier MMA show Cage Wars Championship. This event will be the most fantastic show we have done to date and with what we have planned over the next twelve months it will show that CWC is a very serious player in the MMA world" said Jonny Burrows from CWC.

McDonald who comes from Bangor County Down is the second fighter to be announced for the CWC event in December and his opponent will be named shortly.

    CAGE WARS CHAMPIONSHIP
FIRST EVER UK TITLE UP FOR GRABS

CAGE WARS CHAMPIONSHIP are proud to announce their first ever UK title belt tournament. The lightweight four man tournament which will take place on December 10th, will feature four of the best up and coming lightweight fighters from the UK and Ireland.

Nomaan Khalid, Tommy Maguire, Bobby McVitie, and Ali Maclean will compete to become the CWC lightweight champion. The four fighters will face each other in a knockout tournament, which means the winner will have to win twice on the same night to earn the fantastic CWC gold belt.

“ We have not offered a title belt before. We needed it to be meaningful, so the only option to achieve that was a tournament.

In the early days of mixed martial arts that was how all the champions earned their belts, so it seems appropriate to do that for our first ever belt. This is not a “world title belt” because pretty much every show on the planet has one of those and we wanted to be credible and avoid the “not another world title from the village hall” remarks that are always used. This CWC belt will mean something real to the winner because everyone will know that he had to work damn hard to earn it. After the tournament we will develop the rankings and allow the title to evolve organically into the number one UK title worth having.

This is the first step on the road to creating champions in each weight category for the UK and all the titles will be earned via the tournament process. We have a very definite plan to grow the CWC title platform across the globe and eventually reach our goal of having a real credible world champion through our events”

The winner of the CWC lightweight tournament will keep the belt as his own outright and he will receive a three fight contract with CWC. We have chosen these four fighters because we believe they have solid ability and are four exciting up and coming young fighters who in our eyes have earned an invitation to take part.

The CWC tournament will take place at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast on December 10th as part of the Cage wars Championship - Validation event

What a fantastic original idea, does anyone know if this concept has been used before?

Just wondering how many of these four fighters are based and train in Ireland?

Dont waste your breath with this loser Chris.
    He slabbers about everything.

    He should really read this:
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/faq.php?faq=bie_faq#faq_bie_faq_guidelines

Sounds like its gonna be another epic night of fights from the Cage Wars team.

I think the one that beats Maguire will be winner here. Hes quite good. Heavy hands and is a monster. Pretty sure hes fought at Welterweight.
But then everyone knows Ali`s Wrestling is top notch and Bobby from Scotland is a game opponent.
    Interesting Tourney.

    Was Denzil the Welsh choice?

If you read the original thread you will see that it states that this was a common concept in the early days, so I don't get the impression that it is being passed off as an original idea. Doh!

And somewhat interestingly, if you check the Cage Wars history, it turns out they were the first ever cage fighting event in the UK and Ireland. As they were the 'original', does that make everything else a cheap copy in your eyes??

Enomoto is a very good fighter mate, his brother is fighting in Sengoku, and both are tearing up the European division.

As for me, I havent fought in over a year so maybe next time ill get a bigger name. :D

Oh i know man im not putting they guy down at all.
But with a show that also has Mick Sinclair in the Card id have put those two together. Clementi vs Sinclair from a neutral point of view would appeal to me more. Would also have pulled a bigger crowd from England to come when it come to selling tickets in such a big venue.
As for you i kinda wanted to see the new Stringer version 2.0 pushed hard to see how he differs from the old Menace.

Mate don't take this guy lightly, he has had more fights than are on his record & trains with Team Pythagore in France which is one of the top teams there. He trains everyday with the likes of Fred & Emmanuel Fernandez plus the rest of the team! So don't worry about me showcasing my skills! ;)
