    Hi,

I was abused physically by my mother growing up, the abuse started from as far back as i can remember. It was not a clip around the ear but it was horrific beatings and vicious verbal abuse. Sometimes i feel the destruction she has caused and is still causing in still very unjust and she refuses to stop being abusive verbally. I know nothing is going to stop her from maintaining how right she is about everything, no one has ever confronted her behaviour except me, which has led to her getting more abusive because she is out of control. Sometimes i think if she gets a reality check she will stop.

Im 28 now. I know friends who have reported sexual abuse at an older age but do people report physical abuse or is it seen as not as bad because it was very common in Catholic Ireland??

You can report it, no-one is going to stop you. However the chances of an investigation being launched are very slim.

Report it anyway- it seems like she is never going to admit she has done anything wrong, and at least if you report it, she will understand that you do not believe in her bull---- that she hasn't done anything wrong. It will get her to back off. You need to live your life now and need her to back off. Once you have achieved that- go for counselling.
