ok so my problem is that my job is technically assessed as self employment as I am a tutor and so pay my own taxes etc. however it isn't like I own my own business etc.
My earnings are a set amount each week and the job is a 3 day week.

I have used the formulae on welfare.ie to work out that if I was working part time and was means tested on my earnings I would be entitled to about 30 euro a week. However, because SW say this is self employment im assessed a different way and so Im not entitled to anything.

I would like someone to explain this to me or tell me is there any point in me appealing this? If anything I would think I should be entitled to more because I have to pay my taxes on top of my earnings.

    :)

The only way to look at it is to check what rate of prsi you pay.Other than that technically self employed is just that.
