I wear very flat shoes or uggs or cons to work and i'm on my feet all day. i find at the end of the day my back and feet are sore. I need to invest in shoes that give me better support. Any ideas on shoes that are dressy enough but are comfortable for walking in all day?

Have the same problem, on my feet all day so paper thin flat shoes or heels are a no no. Clarks do a nice range of comfy flats, they come in a lot of colours and styles and many of the ranges have straps across the front so they stay on your feet alot easier then pumps. Only thing is that most of these shoes are part of their 'unstructured range' and I find they don't really provide much arch support (a bit of a problem if you've flat feet but probably fine for everyone else). You should check out their website. I've never tried ecco, but suppposedly they're good too. I've also found marco tozzi and reiker comfy enough (reikers shoes can be a bit old fashioned but their sandals and boots are nice). Haven't had a lot of luck with flat hush puppies can never keep them on my feet since they're usually pumps - I need a strap across the front to keep shoes on - but thats just me!

Another vote for Clarks shoes here. They're so comfortable and some of the stuff in at the minute is beautiful! I bought a gorgeous pair of pumps there a few weeks ago and they're sooo comfy.

Try the brogue things that are out at the minute, they're so comfy. Or vans. Clarks are comfortable I suppose....they're just never very nice :L

Some of the clarks shoes are AWFUL. really terrible but just had a look and they have some shoes that are workable.

    I like these http://www.clarks.co.uk/find/department-is-women/customproductattribute2-is-pumps/product-is-20341789

yoou could wear them with skinnies, tights and a dress. I dont think id wear them with leggigs tho. but id be very careful about the shoes you pick from clarks, id either go with that style or a ballet pump with a simple bow.

Some clarks shoes are very comfortable but some look hideous! They always look really cool in their ads though!

I don't know if you'll think they look pretty but Doc Martins pumps are pretty cool, warm and waterproof (as long as you don't step into a MASSIVE puddle!) :) I think the Mary Janes are adorable! :D I've seen them in China Blue in Temple Bar.

Like with any docs there will be a certain amount of "breaking in" but after that you have a good shoe for life! :)

I recently bought some flat boots in The Shoe Zone and they are so comfy! They come up nicely around the calves of my legs and I can hop in puddles and keep my feet nice and warm. I'll post a picture when I get home but I highly recommend them.

You might consider getting some insoles to give you arch support. I have custom made ones and it makes standing a lot better. They are called orthotics.
