New Octavia Tour.....the original has been dropped after 14 years and 1.4 million sales. Its now replaced by this...which is the 2004 model....I wonder if it is coming here.........Just passed a 09 Mk1 model a few hours ago.

The old Tour was cheap because it was basically the previous generation Octavia.

Don't see the point really of the new Tour as the current Octavia is just a facelifted version of the same car since 2004 so surely it doesn't cost a whole lot less to produce the new Tour over the current version?

Or is that they still have a lot of unsold pre facelifted Octavias to shift like Ford did with the last generation Escort upto 10 years ago.

This wont be available with any diesel engines in europe afaik, so this is a complete no-no for the irish market tbh..

Tour AKA Estate, a bit like BMW's 'Touring' or Audi's 'Avant'

Wrong. it was/is a cheaper version of the octavia based on the older platform, e.g up to now, it was the mk1 octavia basically, the one with origins from 1996
