wouldnt mind as much if reduced payments were paid when they were supposed to be paid, budgeting to get paid a few thousand like last year before christmas and promising to pay lads in dec and then not getting paid till nearly may in fainess most lads didnt mind what id owe them wouldnt be much but still tis embarrassing when you say youll pay a lad 1 month only to tell him when he phones i have got reps yet so you have to wait. i wonder what the dept staff would say i their pay cheque for dec wasnt paid till may..

agree with you about the reps, payments have already been cut and no leeway for amendments to the plans,

there was some mention in yesterday's indo about the headage payment under threat post 2012

lol your like an old uncle of mine nothing but bad news, :), i def think the payments should be amended to help younger more active farmers, i know 70 + yr olds getting 12-15k a year paying no tax plus getting the state pension, something wrong there

Heard that we will be lucky if we see REPS payments this year. On cuts i think the greens will want to hold as much of the forestry budget as possible. Disadvantaged area scheme will probably get a cut even though this has the most adverse impact as this affects all the smaller holdings on the west coast. Suckler cow scheme will be maintained as the saving is minimal.

I think the point is missed at government level that these payments while paid to farmers inevitably are also support for the rural local ecomony which is in dire straits at the minute given the downturn in the construction sector. The sooner these supports gets paid the sooner rural businesses get paid and cashflow moving as if we are relying on banks to circulate cash we are at least two years off that. I do appreciate that this is not the answer to our economic woes but these days every little helps.

Well said, my REPS cheque will be circulated back into the rural community via the purchasing of sundaries in the various local retail outlets.

I may even support my local publican once or twice over the xmas :)

Its time for the government to realise the consequences of people not having money to spend

as one of the "auld fellas" on here , I'm looking forward to my pension too, believe me I have payed my fair share towards same over the last 35 years or so

the way matters are going however I am not expecting too much,

Like it or like it not the present level of financial support to the agri sector will not remain and the matter will have to be addressed and taken into account for future planning.

    Ps

ask your uncle to pm me, i'm interested in getting to know his accountant :D
