Its had some work small paint touch ups done on it but its really just a very well looked after original example.

Previous owner had it garaged since 2004. Before that it was with the same family from new...

A few small dings and scratches but thats about the size of it.

A ton of history and documents (mots, service receipts, owners manual etc)

    PS

I also tried to register the car today in Kells. Was told to make an appointment to come back in 3 weeks - next available slot.

    Also need to bring:
    - v5 doc
    - pps number
    - proof of my address
    - bill of sale
    - proof of date of entry to state

So much for the private sector efficiency - when the revenue did this directly it was much easier and quicker....

Spend an age looking for either a R4 or R5 and then 3 come along....

I went to see this one and didn't get it --- as a result I think I may be the "time waster" - in fairness the engine does start, the clutch is slipping and really needs repainting to fix dozens of blisters....

That burgundy one looks very good.

Restored chassis for the R4 can be acquired now from France, which makes most restoration much simpler as this is the achilles heel for the R4.

The VRO in Tallaght refused to register my R4 van last december as it was not roadworthy (it's a restoration project).

It is now under restoration, and will not be finished until next year.

It's an Irish R4 van, however was imported into the UK, and I want it in its original Irish registration number.

It's original Irish Registration number refers to a "1987 Renault Laguna 1.6 RTE Sport".

For some ridiculous reason, most R4 vans are registered on the computer are registered as Renault Laguna 1.6 RTE Sport - this is consistent for all R4 vans.

Needless to say, Renault Lagunas were not in production in 1981 or 1987 or 1984 which all the R4 vans from those times are registered as.

This is obviously some administrative error, probably computer error given that it is so consistent, but I am not looking forward to having to persuade somebody of this. Especially as I do not have the original documents. This new change is a total pain in the ass!

Haha... That's typical behaviour of a frustrated seller (and there's lots of them about at the moment)... you look at a car, decide it's not the right car for you, and you're classed as a time waster :D

I even saw an ad on donedeal recently where the car, i think it was a mercedes, was withdrawn from sale because, and i quote, "the seller was sick of foreigners looking at the car and not buy" :D racist much? LOL

Was your 86 Renault 4 assembled in Wexford, or was it built in France?
