Zombie Survival Scenario

The age old house defence scenario:
(skip the lead-up to the quick run-down after it if you wish)
    --BEGIN LEAD-UP--
You are alone in a two storey house, you have been there for a day and barricaded all of the entrances bar a side door and a window at the back of the house. The second storey is accessed by a single flight of solid wooden stairs and from there a small attic can be reached via a pull-down ladder.
But now it is night, you're exhausted and in a lapse of mind you simply lock the un-barricaded door and push some furniture against the un-barricaded window before retiring to the upstairs bedroom to rest.
Soon you are awaken by a shrill scream followed by gunshots; someone is coming.
Hastily you run downstairs, collecting your only firearm; a .22 lever action rifle (15 round magazine), and rushing to look through a gap in your barricades at the front of the house.
    Nothing.
    Then a pounding on the side door, you rush to face it, your gun held ready as the it splinters around the handle and bursts open. Your face falls in relief as a man with a handgun holds his hands up and calls "don't shoot!". As you're lowering your gun he pushes the door closed and jams a table against it before turning to you;
    "They're after me."
The very instant he finishes his sentence the pounding begins; the house is surrounded and within seconds both the side door and your crudely barricaded window are broken in.
    --END LEAD-UP--
Here's where how it looks for you:
    The Enemy:
You are facing the 28 Days Later infected 'zombies'. Fast and deadly, but they die like humans.

    The Battlefield:
    • Two storey house [north facing].
    • You are at the bottom of the staircase to the second storey.
    Your Allies:
    • You are with a male who is carrying Glock 17 handgun.
    Your Inventory:
    • .22 Lever Action Rifle.
    • Hammer.
    The Defences:
There are two breaches in the house's perimeter, one being a side door on the western side of the house and the other being a window in the southern side. Both of these are allowing the infected access.
The remainder of the windows and doors are barricaded and completely secure.
Now is where you come in.
What would you do in this situation?
    Will you live?
    Will you die?
Good luck, you're going to need it.

for me its a trip to the attic. I'd pull the ladder up after me, pick off a few zed heads and close the hatch. if the house is terraced, id remove some roof tiles, run a few houses down along the roofs and gain access through the roof to an attic of a house thats not surrounded. then its a case of either barricading that house or trying to escape

Supposing the Zs havent seen u yet u could just kill the other guy, take his gun and whatever else and hide in the attic for a while until the Zs head elsewhere...

It's a possibility, but you may find yourself without your only ally... or bait

    Simples

#1 I would pretend to help my new so called ally
#2 having lured him into a false sense of security I would get close and smash him in the head with my hammer knocking him out.
#3 I would take his gun and whatever else he has on him.
#4 I would use him as bait
#5 Having removed my stair scase I would move upstairs, remove the ladder and endter my attic - safe zone and wait it out.

Eventually the Z's would've found the guy they were chasing, eat him and move on. I would continue to stake out my safe house and wait tilt he coast is clear and baracade the place up properly and clean any of the mess left downstairs.

I survive a lone, trust no one.

Well until I make contact with boardsies that is.

Have you thought of trying to reason with the zombies.

Theres a real nasty tone to this. You see a group (gaggle?) of zombies and you automatically assume that theyre up to no good flesh eating antics. Its downright racism i tell ya.

As their infected people that are probably on the ragged edge of their bodies limits already I'd try what I could to further exhaust them like getting them to run from one side of the house to the other. Without water, which they've shown no interest in from what I can gather, they'd be floppy piles of useless flesh within 24 hours. At most it would be a day or two wait while the human body uses up it's final reserves of energy running around like a mad thing.

You people advocating betraying your only ally better hope none of the rest of us find out who ye are... Because if we ever are caught in that situation, you'll be the first to die, seeing as no one trusts you!

Let me put it this way, you manage to escape your pursuers, you have a gun and get into a house and barricade the door shut. You are greeted by someone with a rifle who sighs with relief to see that you are a norm. As s/he welcomes you into the house, you pass a computer screen displaying "boards.ie" and at the top is
"Welcome, Quandary" or "Welcome, NOGMaxPower". Now what do you do? ;-)

In this situation you need your ally because when facing the infected you can bet that they will be through your barricades in less then a minute. Get your new best friend to follow you upstairs and cover you while you get the attic door down and your arse up there. When you are their cover him as best you can until he gets up and then pull up the ladder behind you. Remain quiet while the infected ransack the house and try to keep track as best you can as to where/how many there are. Hopefully they will not discover you and leave after a while. Once you think they are all gone pound on the attic floor a few times before you head down to make sure that there is no infected lying in wait for you.

I have no idea what you do then, your barricades are breached and you are probably in a residential area. Trying to repair the damage would be suicidal since they will no doubt spot you before you are finished and leaving the house is not a great option either. I don't fancy your chances at all in this situation.

PS: that guy is a dick for leading the infected straight to your door and more then likely placing a death sentence on you.

Jaysus People, has no one been payin attention in Protocol Classes

FIRST, before anything else, before they pass the Welcome matt, point your rifle at their face, tell him to drop the Glock and Strip Nekkid

Once you are sure they are NOT INFECTED

then you can make for the hidey hole.

hells no, accept the help til you get to the attic, then check the dude out. blow him away if needs be, but I'd be with the idea of going our through the roof and into someone elses attic

Shouldn't you have moved anything useful upstairs and wedged the stairwell with bulky furniture all tied together? Let the zeds have the ground floor. Anyway does the kitchen have a door and key? If so you can just lock it, giving you plenty of time to amble upstairs, pushing furniture into the stairwell as you go.

The rage virus as seen in 28 days was pretty much instant, so you'll know straight away if he's infected or not.

if he's minutes away from it then he'll still have his sanity (even though he's a tool for ruining you're safe house.

ask if he's injured, if he is the chances are I could talk my way into him letting me see it, sympothising with him then shooting him with hisgaurd down

the drastic reduction of adrenaline in his system would make him a lot more emotional and would allow you to "connect" with him :P
