    Belinda Carlisle 1989.
So…. not only has my teenage obsession with chiseled cheeked red heads with electric blue eyes left me with a deeply embarrassing dent in the credibility of my musical taste, it's also managed to leave me feeling really.. really old.. :(

I was up on the front line standing right in front of Peter. Awesome!

Can't remember my first gig, so long ago back in the early 90's and all a blur now, among the first though were:

    Type O Neg.
    Sepultura/Paradise Lost.
    Nirvana.
    Pearl Jam.
    Metallica.
    Stone Temple Pilots.

Ah jaysus that takes me back. I use to hate the fookin Revs. Absolute sh1tebags. Use to prefer the metal blasts not the pop punk ones but saw an amazing band there calle Label who I then saw at Witnness and got thrown a single that I still have on my iPod. They broke up soon after.
Saw the singer a few years ago in Vaughns and he said he's send me on more of their stuff and he never did .

Don't be embarrassed, that was a class gig.

Was it the one at The Point?

Thought that was '90 or '91.

We blagged some tickets to it from MCD at the time by saying that our tickets were now on a plane to New York in a family members jacket, they stuck us on the guestlist.

There were four of us, right up front.

She was barefoot throughout and stood on rug.

Between songs we kept shouting 'show us your tits' and she was laughing :D

She said something to us into the mic, but we were so drunk, none of us remembers what though.

Phoenix park 82 or 3? Eurythmics, simple minds, U2 and a shed load of others. Annie lennox got bottles hoofed at her by a couple of muppets in the front.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

16th Aug 1981, just passed my 15th birthday.
Thin Lizzy at Slane, supported by Hazel O'Connor.
U2 on bill as well, with TNT and Rose Tattoo
And a Dexy's spin-off - the Bureau who I thought would be huge but never made it.
Remember Smiley Bolger doing compere and nearly decapitating a friend throwing vinyl LP's from the stage.
Drinking warm vodka from a Lilt bottle and getting sick, (still have program with sick sticking the Rose Tattoo pages together)

But Lizzy were the best band live, still haven't see better, saw them the next year at a mad Castlebar weekend where Madness and the Boomtown Rats played the night before...

    Long time ago !!!:)

    U2 Croke Park 1987-06-27

Support Acts: Light A Big Fire, The Dubliners, The Pogues, Lou Reed

The pitch was crazy no crush barriers then ,see this vid

Depending on who's asking, (and whether I'm trying to impress her or not ) my first gig was either Chris Rea :o in the RDS in 1984-85 (I was 12, Shamrock Diaries was huge at the time, it was a field trip from school) or Queen in Slane in 1986 (my aunt knows Henry Mountwhatshisface and got me a free ticket for my birthday) :D.

I remember drinking West Coast Cooler  at the Chris Rea gig, being ripped off by bogus program sellers outside and staff frantically trying to remove chairs from the floor as the crowd got mad for it.

I also remember it pissing with rain at Slane and Freddie stopping Seven Seas of Rhye at the beginning of the gig because 2 lads down the front were beating the ****e out of each other.
