ok so...ive been off cigarettes about 2 weeks now & ive started to go back training.basically i do an hour/hour & a 1/2 of cardio training every 2nd night burning about 750-800 cals...now ive a 6 pack just starting to appear..but my stomach is really bloated & ive fat on my hips too...how is it my stomach sticks out like that yet ive a 6 pack coming????now i usually eat low fat like so

    Breakfast-
Porridge & honey or weetabix & banana (low fat milk)

    Main meal-
    Protien- Chicken or Fish....

Sauce (tinned tomates & spices) or a blue dragon stir fry sauce(low fat)

Veg-onions mushrooms courgettes carrots parsnips brocolli peppers

    Carbs-
Brown rice or pasta about (125g)
    Potatoes (2)
and reasonably low fat oven chips from time to time
(one or twice max a week)

Before bed- Can of tuna or salmon
    Couple of silverskin onions
1 slice of brown bread with cheese spread
( about half as fattening as butter)

for snacks ill usually have a go ahead bar a hard boiled sweet some nuts an apple or maybe a rich tea or fig roll biscuit...i also drink alot of tea no sugar just a small drop of low fat milk & sweetener or an odd time honey.......all my cooking is done in the low fat spray ( that 1 cal stuff).

so im not getting what the problem is..about 2 years ago i was 12.5 stone and i used this diet & the same excercise routine & I dropped to 10.5 im now 144lbs....is there something im missing??? i dont eat anything like pizza's frys takeaways cheese mayonaisse beef (except steak or lean cuts) or pork or lamb at all....id like a flat stomach so please would someone care to give me a bit of advice im really confused:cool:??

Not another fat-phopia are you? Cut down on your carb intake and increase your fat and protein intake for best fat loss results. Limit carbs to pre and post workout. Fat is not your enemy! Please please do some research and understand this. Your body needs fat to function correctly, it does not need many carbs at all. Refined carbs are your enemy such as white pasta, oven chips, fig rolls etc.

Well not necessarily i wont eat anything bad for me i mean im 21 & wont eat pizzas kebabs sausages chipper food chinese indian drink beer or cider or anything with excessive amounts of fat or calories for that matter because on top of it all its filth. My protien intake is pretty high at the moment beacause i do eat lean sliced chicken or ham as a snack. I do know the story behind fats & replacing them as carbs ive done quite a bit of homework on this but im not 100% convinced ive seen people try at that & fail miserably seems thats not for everyone. I never eat white pasta & the fig rolls are probably 2 with a cup of tea twice a week surely thats ok???? (moderation). What confuses me is that im tryin to burn a little bit of fat from one specific area and its pretty hard :(

Jarecki's right, you can't spot reduce fat. Alot of where fat comes off first/last is genetics. Just keep going, do you do any weight training? IMHO you're doing far too much cardio and this will actually cause some muscle loss aswell as fat loss. The ideal program for fat loss is doing cardio around 2 times a week and weight training (compound lifts) 3-4 times a week.

OP, you cannot lose fat from one specific part of your body - it is impossible. The two previous posters are speaking the truth.

And your diet seems to be very high in carbs, some of which are better than others, but you need to cut them down if you want to see your six pack. Carbs wouldn't be your best friend if you're trying to get/maintain a flat stomach.

Here are the carbs you've listed in your diet - porridge, weetabix, banana, sauces, all the vegetables you named, brown rice, brown pasta, potatoes, oven chips, silver skin onions, brown bread, go ahead bar, boiled sweet, apple, rich tea/fig roll biscuit.

You get way too little fat in your diet. Once again, not wise if you're looking to get that stomach you're on about. I'd change from low fat milk to full fat milk for starters. You haven't listed what fish you eat, but I hope it's the oily kind full of healthy fats (salmon, trout, tuna, mackerel, sardines etc). Eat real butter, and not any of those spreads. Throw an avocado into your vegetable portion. Maybe take a fish oil supplement as well, if needed. Keep on eating the nuts, but make sure they're not salted or covered in something else.

Your protein intake seems to be ok with the chicken/fish and the can of tuna/almon. Maybe eat a couple of boiled/poached/scrambled eggs for breakfast, just to get some protein in at the start of the day. Your body needs some protein after fasting (sleeping) for the previous 8 hours or so.

If you stick to the above your diet will be well up to scratch to get a flat stomach. Afterwards, it's up to your training (interval training for cardio mixed with heavy weight lifting) to do the rest.

There are three macronutrients, of which all food is made up of, Carbohydrates, Proteins and Fats. In the vast majority of fruit and vegetables, they are made up of mainly carbs, with little protein and little fat.

In no way am I saying to cut them out of your diet however.

And I'm not saying to eat carbs only once a day either.

What I am saying is that you should limit or cut down on your carb intake if you wish to get a flat stomach.

In my opinion, the carbs you could or should remove would be sauces, chips, biscuits, brown bread, the go ahead bar and the boiled sweet.

Carbs to limit/cut down on would be porridge, weetabix, potatoes, rice and pasta.

And this advice is only if you wish to see your abs.

i see so to basically by cutting carbs lets say make chicken & vegetable soup ( carrot mushroom onion peas chicken) the carbs would be got from the vegetables in the soup as opposed to eating bread with the soup which would then be too high in carbs for the results im looking for?? yeah i tjhink understand now because i was told that if i eat carbs after reducing carbs out body tends to hold water???? so basically for my result id need to reduce carbs increase fats (good fats of course):D

Regarding the soup, yes. If you make a homemade chicken and vegetable soup, it's a healthy, nutritious meal in itself. No need for bread in my opinion.

As for your body holding water, to be honest I don't know. Hopefully somebody later will be able to answer that question for you.

And your last line, you got it in one! :D

Yeah, so full-fat dairy: butter, cheese and cream.

Also eat the skin off chicken and the fat from meat.

Maybe you should give eggs another try as they're such a great food.

Yes it does contain mainly fat. What's the problem?, We've already told you that you need to up your intake of fat! Fat has many nutritional values!!

Fat is good! A lot of your calories should come from fat.

Most fat intake should come from an animal source: eggs, dairy, meat, poultry, fish.
