Hi, Can anyone tell me if a manufacturers warranty is transferrable on a private sale?

It generally is. The warranty stays with the car not the buyer. However, you may want to read the small print on the warranty or call a dealer for the car in quesiton just to be sure.

The original manufacturer's warranty should be transferable and goes with the car rather than the owner (unless it is one of those new Vauxhall lifetime warranties that expires when the first owner sells the car ).

Basically the minimum european requirement of 2 year warranty cover must stay with the car. Other additional warranties offered by the manufacturers are often subject to additional term so those would have to be looked into. Vauxhall for example say that original owner can have a lifetime warranty once the car comes to them for a check each year.
