    Looks like fun to me.

Bump for this, ads on the tv at the moment!

Looks fairly fun, and very violent!

Wonder if the 3D is just a gimmick or will it actually be good.

Went to see this last night. Its absolutely ridiculous but brilliant.

The cinema was near empty though. Everyone else was probably watching Justin Bieberin 3D.

Shame. This one is guaranteed to become a cult classic. I loved it!

It's bombing at the box office, and since Amber turned lesbo she lost her hottie factor.

Hardly bombing to be fair, it's worldwide haul is sure bump up the numbers considerably and this is a film which US distributors Summit really don't seem to care about, they told press and others not to expect much from it.

Since when did an attractive girls sexuality make her less attractive, one of the most ridiculous statements I have ever heard.

    She's bi.

Regardless, I really enjoyed the film. I'll admit it does spread itself in more than a thick layer of marmite. Perhaps because I love the old 70's and early 80's Z-Grade exploitation movies and the Fulci, Bava, Deodato-era garbage is reason amount to why I enjoyed it so much.

The use of 3D was sketchy, but then aside from Tron Legacy, most 3D movies simply don't work and it is a bit of a gimmick but
the opening scenes are so over the top, when a lad gets his hand blown off with a shotgun and his hand flies out the screen
you more or less know what sort of movie you are about to see.

I'll be buying the Blu Ray version definitely. Loved it, loved it, LOVED IT!

EDIT: Forgot to mention, even if you hate every single second of the 104 minutes this movies consumes of your life, I personally guaurantee you won't be disappointed with the character 'The Accountant' in the movie. This bloke has a complete Encyclopedia Britannica-sized collection of one-liners to deal out that you'll absoutely howl too! Shan't spoil, just enjoy it. :)

No matter her being straight/bi/whatever, you (or most here, for that matter) would never have gotten near her. So her "hottie factor" remains the same. She is just as unattainable now, to you, as she was last year

Although not a hottie even close to Amber Heatd standard remember that Anne Heche film she was in with Harrison Fotd? They were shipwrecked on an island (the name escapes me) did that not do less then stellar business and they blamed it on the fact she had recently come out?

I could be very wrong with this so I'll happily stand corrected if wrong.

Bottom line? People just don't know a good movie when they see one. Drive Angry may bomb, I don't really care, I saw it, I loved it, to me that's all that matters.

The real negative is that because films like this get overlooked (and utter trousers like Skyline doesn't), return poor financial results and eventually stop being made because they are not bankable. Just look at the number of sequel's, prequels and spin offs release over the last couple of years and the forthcoming couple to see that studios are fresh out of ideas.

The crowds will flock to a Toy Story 4 or Saw 937 (or however many have been made now) for example. But I'll wager nobody went and saw Tokyo Fist or Il Mare (the original version of the only movie Sandra Bollocks has been vaguely hot in, The Lake House) when they were available.

Maybe I'm being too granular with the above in retrospect, but hopefully my point has been made somewhere in there! :o

Nic Cage's movies of late have been, well, crap.

The main reason I'll watch this is because I enjoy William Fichtner. :D

I love Nicholas Cage :D I must see this!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,988 ✭✭✭constitutionus

pretty much seen everything i wanted thats out so might give this a shot.

i agree that cage has been on a losing streak recently but i can stand the guy and this looks like the kinda trashy pap i'd enjoy when i just want to turn off the brain and chomp popcorn.

TBH the only thing putting me off is its 3D . thats seriously starting to piss me off lately.

Very vague and lazy post to be honest.

I thought the use of 3D wasn't exactly warranted with this movie, BUT, it was used very effectively, especially, as mentioned in a previous post I made, for the opening sequence.

I wouldn't go out to buy a 3D TV specifically for it, or for that matter Tron Legacy, when the 3D Blu Ray versions arrive. But as a cinema showpiece it was brilliant (as was Tron Legacy).

[OT]As for 3DTV. When autostereoscopic displays hit 60" and circa €1500 I'll commit. The technology is too new, too divided and importantly, too pricey. I actually wish 21:9 displays were met with as much enthusiasm as 3D. I want that Philips 21:9 TV![/OT]
