He's -5 with no dropped shots after first round.

Must surely make the cut from there............

Anyone know if he has been working on his game or just working through the pain?
I wonder has he changed anything

Bob Torrance started coaching him a few weeks back. Taking him back to basics by all accounts. Simple golf.

I noticed recently a big improvements in his first round scores just hasn't been following up with a steady round 2. Has held par for the day through the front this morning. Would love to see him back after 2 years in the doldrums. Played some unbelievable stuff in his better days.

when was the last time he made the cut?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,361 ✭✭✭f22

Campbells problems have always come from his driver and slowly filtered through everything else.

thats a shame, but good to hear there is some progress, especially with Bob Torrance.

His swing in Killarney really wasnt good, had no rythym and was quick and jerky.

That just reminded me of Seve with the driver towards the end of his career. Terrible to watch :(

Terrible stuff. Seems like such a great fella too. The Sunday he clinched the US Open he looked like he had the perfect golf game and the simplest, most repeatable swing ever... He'd always been a hot-n-cold player, disappearing for weeks then suddenly winning somewhere. But he's never suffered for ths long, the poor f*cker...

missed the cut again finished +5 today after a good round yesterday

Had my doubts about him making the cut.

Good start but he can't keep it going...

I hope he goes now and takes a year off, rebuild his game from the basics with Bob's help and comes back better for it in 2012. Nobody likes to see any professional struggling every week like this.

One of the nice guys too. Was treated to a heros return in NZ after he won US Open, hopefully there are still good days ahead for him

Thats what was happening to Rocky with him taking a beating every week and looking to the world like he would never win when he finally found his game and ran Apollo Creed close in the first Rocky, before becoming the Heavyweight Champion of the world in Rocky 2. :D (It's late and I'm amusing myself!)

I do agree with what you wrote though. A good few months under Bob Torrence getting back the basics and enjoying golf again will work wonders for his confidence and general game play. I really do hope he gets a victory in 2012.

cut was -4 in the end so turned out he was actually right on the mark before that horrible finish.

Speaking of horrific falls from grace, Duval is going well in the US, joint 3rd so far.

I hope he doesn't do one of his horrible 77s.

I'm another big Duval fan and would love to see him return to some good form. He's a true gent, someone I know caddied for a group of himself, tiger and mark o'meara in Portmarnock prior to the british open a few years back. Woods barely gave them a thankyou, while duval virtually emptied his bag for them. He also went on to win that week.

Duval dropped back last night, even par 71 while everyone else was shooting in the 60's.

    R Mediate 3 ahead.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,886 ✭✭✭WHIP IT!

Hope Mediate does it, he gave us a great thrill in 2008 (?) against Tiger in the US Open so it's sad to see him struggling for his card. A win would give him a two-year exemption til he's 49 then he can go make silly money on the Champions tour a year later.

Duval had to fight back for that, was +3 turning.

Duval 7th after 11. Hang in there!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,082 ✭✭✭bigtimecharlie

Rocco now slipping, +4 after 11 but still has a one shot lead.

    Duval is +1 after 13.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,082 ✭✭✭bigtimecharlie

Getting interesting now. Rocco is +5 and tied for the lead with 3 others.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,729 ✭✭✭Speak Now

    Some finish by Rocco :D

Duval secured his card as well :)
