I don't know if any of you guys have heard about this guy Ted Haggard.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted_Haggard

Basically he was a serious evangelical Christian in the states with a massive following, typically anti-gay marriage etc......

Anyway he was outed when the man he was paying to have sex with him went public, he also told of meth use. His church thew him out in disgrace.

It was really big news at the time in the states. Really big.

Anyway, at the time i was delighted, what i saw was a hypocritical creep. Serious creep. Religious nuts who cant just let people do what they want.

Well i came across this documentary and I have to say I started feeling really sorry for the guy. He actually seem like quite a nice guy if a little misguided.

Just gonna leave this here. I've absolutely no sympathy for the guy, the level of hypocrisy on his part is unreal.

I mostly know him from a Richard Dawkins interview. Very passionate guy anyway.

What I do remember about the scandal was he called upon his supporters not to criticise/attack the man who outed him. At the time a lot of evangelical Christians were effectively blaming the prostitute for the whole thing. Haggard could have went with that explanation and gotten an easier time but he accepted he was the one to take responsibility.

Will take a look at this when I get home from work. I'm half expecting this to be a good example of how religious fundamentalism can mess with people.

Defo, the guys is one messed up bloke. But there doesn't seem to be any hate in him.

Watched the documentary. Do feel sorry for the guy. I think his legacy will probably make moderate Christians more accepting of homosexuals but perhaps make extremist Christians more hateful
