had it done about 3 years ago. Had to take 2-3 days off. I wore sunglasses for the next week while running just in case dust/insects flew into the eye and caused agitation. My surgery went very well and recovery was quick but others take longer to heal so it all depends on this

Got it done myself a few years ago and was back doing a bit of running within a week. Surgery was fine and anyone I know who has got it done recovered quickly

great thanks for that, training for waterford half and don't want to take too many days off. sunglasses are a good idea, might look a bit odd in november though!

That's good to hear. Getting it done a few days after Dublin Marathon but didn't fancy spending a month sitting on the couch.

Nah, you'll be grand, they advise you to avoid impact sports for a length of time but running only a few days or so.

Planning on getting it done myself next year and that was one of the first questions I asked. Was told 3-4 days should be fine, just ask the questions of who ever is doing it for you .

It also depends on whether you get the Lasik or Lasek procedure - one is front of eye, the other is on the back. I had the front of eye one done a few years ago and it takes about a week to recover. The one on the back has a quicker recovery time (day or two) but there's no contact sport allowed for a few months after.

Sunglasses will be essential though - initially cos it'll be blindingly bright, but for a while afterwards your eyes will be very sensitive to dust etc and you can't rub them if they itch!

I had it done about 3 yrs ago now, avoid contact sports/swimming and anything that involves anything near your eyes, running is fine after a few days up to a week, wear your sunnies to avoid dust/flies, wear a sweat band to avoid sweat getting into youe eyes making you wipe them and avoid eye makeup if you`re a girl (even if you`re a fella-;)) - its the taking it off that`s the problem...
