Looking to get my hands on an iPad for a vmware instructional I am preparing.
From the brief searches I have done I see it seems to be primarily available in the Apple store.
Are there any other more competetive locations to buy these devices that the boardsies are aware of?
Basically trying to see if this device is configurable for business use. If an online apple store is the only purchase location then thats a black mark already :(

    Looking forward to your replies.

PC world stock them, (and, believe it or not, Arnotts), find a store near you and ring to see if they've any in stcok.

You'll be hard pushed to find it cheaper than the set apple prices. You can buy it online from the apple store, but it can also be bought in a few shops too, where you based? CompuB (Limerick, cork, Dublin), expert electrical, pc world/Currys all sell them at the set apple prices. I also saw then in HMV dundrum, not sure if all HMVs are stocking them though.

It will be the about the same price where ever you purchase it as the apple site, can be purchased in PC world or many other places like Currys...

I'm going through Dublin airport for Xmas and planning on buying it in the pcworld/currys/dixons (whichever one they're calling it now) store
As I'm going to Canada I should get it tax free so fingers crossed up to 21% off!

Recently I was gonna go to Oslo as the flights were only 20 euro return with Ryanair (all in) as Oslo is outside the EU you should be able to get your **** Duty free too!

so spend 20 euro go to Oslo and save a couple hundred depending on which version you get!

(Maybe this should go in bargain alerts :D:D:D:D:D)

Dixons have an 'airport price' on all their products, doesn't matter where you're flying, found this out when I was going to Canada a few weeks back. The iPad is sold at standard apple prices.

Canadian price is $549CAD which is about €400, bit they add sales tax at the till, works out about €490. May as well buy it in Ireland for €499 so you get the Irish plug and don't risk getting hit by customs.

Did you need to buy a charger back here after?

You can just use a travel adapter but that'll cost a couple of quid anyway, personally I didn't think it was worth the saving of €9 or so didnt buy it in the end. Wasn't sure about warranty either. Planned to buy it in pc world when I got back, but I was welcomed home with the news that I lost my job, kinda lucky I didnt drop 500 quid over there. The dollar does change value so when you go into the store pick up an iPad and go to xe.com and check the rate, there may be a bigger and worthwhile price gap.

@ the mo, you can get a base model for 360 euro, exchange rate 1.40, there is a nice saving there.

Plus tax, us and Canada price all goods without tax, it's added at the register. Tax % depends on the state tho, in Ontario i think it was 13%. Still a saving @ €360 though.
