ive never put a bipod on any of my rifles i do use an adjustable hand held bipod but onely good in certain situations, i would think harris is the best , but question is what height 1 i see 6 to 9in, 9 to 13in, and so on iam talking for stalking what would you suggest as the best not saying swivel or anything just what height works best, some people say there a waste of time unless your target shooting that they are just a gun rest, but think its time 1, thanks.

9-13 most versatile for summer, however will not reach over grass in winter.
the 13-23" Harris with swivel is the only job for stalking in winter. It can give you a steady mount to fire off on the roughest cow hoved ground.

dont bother with a 6-9 there too small unless for the bench. i hve a 9-13 the goes on the .22 and .223 and find i great. it really steadies you up for the shot and gives a lot of confidence.

thanks for thereply tack, i see FD says 9 to 13 and you 13 to 23, so by the sounds of this the 13 to 23 might be the happy go medium, thanks F.D. for your reply aswell, and would think iam looking for this in a light verson.

Well Kieran I have both, and you said you wanted it for stalking, if shooting long range and in semi dry conditions the 9-13 for shooting prone, however if it is wet rushy ground the 13-23 is your only option.

For any long range stuff I use the 9-13" (bunnies in the summer)
For shooting in upland/lowland boggy areas the 13-23 is beyond reproach

The 13-23 has a multitude of hight and leg adjustments for shooting on hill sides etc where you have one leg @15" and the other @ 19" etc to get you level

if you have a sling nut the bipod has a spring loaded griper that fixes to the sling mount. then there is a threaded wheel you turn that tightens the bipod solid.

6-9" for me, swivel model, with a pod lock (a handle that replaces the knurled nut, which can lock or release the tension on the swivel). I mostly shoot off hillocks and rocks, so don't have the problems my flatlander cousins sometimes encounter :D

Well as my brother said aged 6 when he returned from a school tour, what's Connemara like? "it's just a hape of rocks" :D:D

If you are into stalking you would time and again be glad of the higher bipod for shooting over rushes.
And there is a lot of Rushes in Keirans locality ;)

    6-9 for me also. http://www.harrisbipods.com/HBRMS.html

bipods give you alot more range, really opens up your rifle to maximum potential.

have a fiberglass adjustable bipod fron 24in up to 66in and sometimes use this, just suppose i think i might be missing something without one. i will more than likely pick one up, have to buy these gagdets to sometimes discover i dont need them. thanks for the replies.
