    Hi
Im currently doing a fas course, and beforehand was receiving the maximum amount on JA but when I went to get the forms signed for fas, I was told I was on the wrong rate and was cut down. How do I go about appealing this? Any help is appreciated

    Hiya shauna

the only reason i cant think of why this might happen to you is because, last year in the budget any new claimants to the JA would get the new reduced rates, 18 - 20 year olds (€100) and 21 - 24 year olds (€150) anyone who was on the JA already would not have their rates reduced, so in your case they are obviously treating you as a new claimant.

But you should ask your social welfare office for clarification on the matter. Hope this helps
