Is it posible to or worth while upgrading an old Imac G3?? I think it would be a shame to waste it. How easy would it be? what might the cost be?

It might be possible to upgrade the ram or hard drive, but it hardly seems worth it unless you had the parts yourself. It would be near worthless now. Maybe hang onto it for 50 years and it might amount to something.
