I am thinking about taken a year out and going to teaching English in Japan …. The jet program seems a great way to go about it but it looks like a very drawn out process …can anyone give me some advice on it or are there any other recruitment links I could go through ??? I plan on doing a 40hr telf course just as a back up my funds and time are tight so I don’t have the luxury of doing a celt course … I have an honours degree so do I even need the tefl ???

google Jet Japan and you will find out loads of information. I'm not trying to be a prick, I don't know a great deal about it but google will definitely be your friend.

As for a 40 hour TEFL, don't waste your money, time or effort. It's worth about as much as a piece of used toilet paper.

The Japanese Embassy in Dublin's website has all the information you need regarding application to the JET Programme. IF JET isn't for you there are various private companies that hire directly from overseas. Start googling! I'd agree with cloneslad that a 40 hour TEFL course aint worth jack all.
