You would have to get them filled in every day you are in school, but since one days pay for a sub is the equivalent of a weeks dole, I reckon that should you only get one day a week, you will get no dole for that week.

You have to go into your local social welfare office and tell them that you are working casually subbing. They will give you casual dockets which you fill in every week (you dont have to get them signed by the school). If you work more than 3 days in a week you wont be entitled to any social welfare payment that week. It doesnt matter if you work 1 hour or 6 hours per day, it is considered a days work by the SW.

Once you get a job, go to your local social welfare office and tell them your doing subbing. They will give you a form to fill out and get your employer (either the school or the VEC if its a vec school) to complete a section and sign. Send it back to the social welfare office and they will see what is taken off you for everyday you work, based on what you get paid from the school. (im my case i got e100 taken off me for everyday i worked)

You will get dockets that you must mark everyday you work and send it back to the office every week.

That's not how it works at all. If you get one or two days subbing, you'll get dole for the other days. Just go fill out some forms.

Also, if its secondary and you get one 40 min class a day - you get crap money and no dole.

    I was just specualting.
    But seriously?

They would still get the dole for the days not worked, even though the daily rate is the exact same as a weeks dole?

Yes, they could get three days pay I believe and still get part dole, not the whole thing. Just for the days not worked.

eh how does that work then?? the dole is €196 per week. €196/6 = €32.66 per day

when you are on casual dockets and you work 3 days, you will get 3 days pay by the dole (they include saturdays)....if you work 2 days, you'll get 4 days from dole etc.

actually, which will you be receiving....benefit or allowance? if you are receiving benefit then your hourly rate will not be taken into consideration, if you are receiving allowance, then it will.

I was on JA. Its means tested, basically to find out whats taken of you everyday you work, subtract E20 form your daily pay, then get 60% of that. Then subtract that number from what your dole is.
