Kill a wasps nest?

Well, when we were giving the cattle shed a once over just to check it's ok, i noticed a wasps nest in a bale of straw left over from last year. At a spot where the net was broken. The problem is it's not accesable with the loader and it can be moved but would take a bit of pulling and dragging to knock it over the wall into the cattle shed to take it out and burn it..
Jus wonderin if anybody would know of sum spray to kill some of them even?

I recently read that pouring diesel or petrol over the nest is one of the safest things to do to it before removal.

I had a hoody pulled tight around my head and gloves on when I did it, and I ran like hell.

Nothing came out of it, also did it on a cold day which helped. two weeks earlier I prodded it with a shovel and provoked some activity. so better safe than sorry.

Most of the agri stores / co-op's have a Wasp Nest destroyer foam.
It will kill any wasp it comes into contact with.
    I found it very good.
I use 2 cans on a very large nest.

2 cans cost less than 10 euro

Just be careful with wasp nests as recently a young farmers in Roscommon disturbed a nest when removing round bales and was attacked. He subsequently died from the attack. RIP

why not leave along and the weather will finish it off? We have had them in height of summer in eaves of house and sorted with some malathion powder placed on a landing platform (bit of folded cardboard) at entry point so they carry it in to nest.

Both barrels of a 12 bore have also been known to have a fair talent for removing a wasps nest. The wasps usually move out of their own accord after Mr Birdshot has paid a visit. Depends how new and shiny the thing its hanging out of is though.
