    I am not a memeber of the Green Party and have never voted for them and probably will not vote for the party in the next election. However I would like to make a few points as I think the party is getting some unfair criticism from some posters.

    They seem to be blamed for the Banking crisis and economic crisis as well as going into Gov with FF. I think they are innocent of all three, because;

    Banking Crisis

    Back in the early 90's the Green party were a lone voice against crazy re-zoning in return for Brown envelopes from developers. Trevor Sargent stood up in the council chamber to show a cheque that he received from a property developer. To silence him both FF & FG councillors physically attacked him. FF are rotten to the core and we all know that. But FG were equally guilty all over the country in joining FF in votes to put through some crazy re-zoning and planning permissions. This fueled the property bubble. All you needed was a dodgy banking system and regulator and it all took off. Also Labour were not totally blameless in this practice either. The Green party were the only party opposing it.

    Economic Crisis
    The economy started to wane seriously in Aug/Sept '06. The Green party were not elected to Government until 9 months later.

    In Bed with FF
    After the 2007 general election FF were by far the largest party falling just short of an overall majority. The only stable Gov possible was a coalition including FF. FG & Lab categorically refused to do business with FF. What the Green party did was to step up to the plate and form a Government. What did people want? Another election. Who is say that we would not have got roughly the same result again. The country needed a Government.

    I am no fan of the Green party and would disagree with a lot of their policies. However I think it is totally unjust to blame them for things they had nothing to with or on the contrary were actively opposing. FG and their dodgy councillors have a lot more to answer for than the Green party. People need to stop re-writing history here.
