i have a beautiful dress from oasis that i got a few bleach marks on. Don't ask me how because its not the kind of dress you would be scrubbing the toilet in. Anyways it would break my heart to throw it out because it really is one of my favourite old reliable dresses.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I could possibly fix this. I've thought about dying it but not sure if it would work. Are there good quality dyes out there or some product specifically made for this problem.
I really do love this dress and have only worn it once or twice so really would be a shame to throw it out. Thanks.

    Don't dye it!

The dye might not even take and if it does it'll be two different shades on the bleached and unbleached part. Don't know handy you are OP or how much you love the dress but you could do some embroidery on it :D Not as crazy as it sounds, Laura Lees has made her career on cool dresses that have funky embroidered bits on them like this:

Might work? Okay so it's quite a lot of work but I hate losing clothes I love!

    OP,

What colour is the dress? I had a lovely dress/top that got bleach marks on it! Again I didn't know how it got there! It was black with little white polkadots but the bleached sports were a little yellowy and it would have been easy to spot! What I did, was take a black permanent marker to it! I have to say it did the job and the amount of times I've washed it, it's still perfect! :)

its blue. and its a silky material.
Thats bad news for me that i shoukdnt dye it as i am not one bit handy, plus the bleach marks are quite sporadic. :(

you might find a marker in the same or very similar colour? But, if not I sorted a similar prob with small pieces of aplique, (they are like designs in all different shapes, colours, and designs, from places like Hickeys) you just stitch them on, and it doesnt need fancy or good sewing!
Mine was a green dress, and I put these qplique thingies over the bleach marks (from the washing machine!!) they were black sequined and work really well, I put one on each sleeve cuff, even tho there was no bleach there. Anyway good luck with it.

I've had a quick look around for a solution and the best recommendation I can make is to ask a professional cleaner:
"Silk fibers are made of protein and will dissolve in chlorine bleach. Even dilute solutions of chlorine bleach will cause permanent yellowing, color loss and weakening of silk. All stain removal products should be tested in an inconspicuous spot. Professional cleaning is usually recommended for most silk garments."
Failing that, applique or the marker sound like good ideas :)
