IPhone not showing up in iTunes after update to v 10

Hi, I recently upgraded iTunes to 10.x and my iPhone isn't being recognised. It is being recognised by windows though. Do I really have to uninstall and reinstall iTunes? Will I lose apps & podcasts etc?

you can uninstall and reinstall itunes, your stuff is safe tucked away in a folder in windows
