They walk on reading, the Luas is Jammers at this stage. Head still down.. continue to read as people are shoulder to shoulder. Walk off and continue reading...

For eff sake, put the book down for 5 minutes.

Do people not enjoy reading while relaxing? Instead they prefer to do so on a stuffy Luas? I know I don't like to read while walking. Maybe that's cuz I'm a guy and guys can't multi task..

Seriously....put the book down... is it that good a book??

Have you seen the kind of people on the luas? I'd rather stick my face into a bunch of words then look at'em too...

    Crumbs!

    I don't get it.

Are you suggesting they put down the book and look around the stuffy Luas carriage at all the tired and uncomfortable people around them or out the window wishing they weren't on the damned thing?

Reading would be a form of escapism from their awful surroundings.

    Read on, readers!

I buy a newspaper* especially for my Luas trips.

*An After Hours approved newspaper of course.

this is exactly what i do on the luas, it's what makes the journey bearable!

otherwise i have nothing to help block out the various horrors that come with being packed in so closely with so many other people, mainly body odour, bad breath, people who don't hang onto the bars so they fall over and elbow you when the luas jolts forward and people thinking they can squash me into a corner cause i'm short.

That's the beauty of reading, it can be enjoyed anywhere and offers escapism. A nice offering when you're packed into a smelly carriage

Good lord no, I wouldn't buy The Sun, The News Of The World, The Sunday World, The Hearald, The Mirror, Daily Mail, The Express, The Independent, The Star etc etc.

I buy the newspaper that After Hours approves of and only that newspaper.

In my day, we didn't even have a Luas.

There should be a carriage especially for these readers.

A carriage for old people so you don't have to give up your seat.

A carriage for smelly homeless people who never saw the LYNX ads.

And then a carriage for those girls who yap on and on about how much of a Jerk STEVE IS and how JACINTA Should have never got impregnated by TOM(HER BROTHER).

Hey look on the brightside: NEW LUAS LINE THIS WEEKEND!

I have a newspaper i pretend to read with two large holes cut into it so i can maintain an eerie unblinking stare with the person sitting opposite me.

I wouldn't mind people reading. It's the ****ing idiots that keeps bags on their backs when the luas is packed. Really pisses me off

I was reading the collected tales of Saki while on the bus to and from college today - had myself a good chuckle and just ignored the weird looks I got from the older lady with a deathgrip on her handbag.

Books are for losers. I like to pick one person on the luas and spend the trip trying to make really intense eye contact with them.

Y'know, just to feel that human connection.

Yes. No-one ever learned anything from books.

I had someone ask me similar to this not but a couple of weeks ago. ''What do I need to read books for, he asked. Or rather, stated. Has a degree from the University of Life or some bollocks.

Is that while you rub your crotch rhythmically under cover of an AH approved newspaper? If so, I didn't really enjoy the intense eye contact we had the other day. :D

I love reading on the train, it takes you away from the guy telling everyone he's on a train. Just finished Pride & Prejudice, very good.
