If Santa delivers one of these this year:

...is everything I'd need to keep 2 boys U-8 happy on the big day included?

Ha, that'd be brilliant. Wii Sports and Resort (included) will keep them and the family glued for weeks. They'll love it :)

Actually hang on, that bundle only has one Wii remote. I'd recommend getting another Wiimote (and wii motion plus attachment). U'd need it for two people to play a Wii Sports Resort game (eg dogfights, jousting, tennis) at the same time! (Games where you take turns, two-to-four people can use the same wiimote, like bowling)

A friend was in HMV at the weekend and they were selling the Wii + Sports Resort pack for €159.99. GameStop had been selling it for €179.99 but have bumped up the price to €189.99 now.

Yes, I have been looking hard for best deal and hmv are the cheapest at the moment. It is even cheaper then the north as they are £139.99 there. And also cheaper than amazon uk, or argos.

Just back from HMV - Black Wii pack with Mario Kart and Wheel is €169.99

I picked up the mario anniversary red wii for 209.99 in HMV, box has wii sports, new super mario bros. and the original Donkey Kong, a motion plus controller and nunchuk. Deal also included Smash Bros. and a choice of FIFA 11 or Tiger Woods 11, I got Tiger and it's pretty good.

Probably not as good a deal as the black wii with Mario Kart, but it's a really nice set.

    Hi all,

I am totally new to the Wii world - having only used it at friends houses, etc. Thinking of getting this for the family for Xmas - have two young kids - 5 and 8. These packages are available at Smyths - which do you think is better value? Also can someone explain what is the Wii Remote Plus listed in the first package.

Mario Kart Wii Pack contains a black Wii Console, Mario Kart, black Nunchuk, black Wii Remote Plus, black Wii Wheel and Wii Sports. As if that wasn't enough, the bundle will also include Donkey Kong original edition pre-installed on the Wii, in homage to Mario's first ever appearance. Cost €199.99

Change the way you interact with games with the Nintendo Wii. Motion-sensitive controls translate your every movement onto the big screen. And because of the ease of use, anyone can play. How will it move you? Now includes both Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort, complete with Motion Plus! This is in white or black for €189.99.

Any ideas or feedback would be great. Thank you.

The one with Sports Resort is good for kids but adults will enjoy it more. Mario Kart Wii is a very good game, but the kids will enjoy it more.
So I would recommend the Mario Kart pack for them.
You will have to buy another wiimote and probably nunchuck or a wheel.

Wii Motion Plus is something that improves the wiimotes sensitivity, but it only applies to Wii Sports Resort (it's obligatory on this one to have motion plus) and a few other games (Grand Slam Tennis, PGA Tour 10 or 11 etc - mos likely adult games). Wii Remote Plus is a wiimote with Motion Plus included in it. Mario Kart doesn't need it, it doesn't matter if the motion plus is put or not, or the remote is remote plus or not, it works great without it, because the game was released before MP was released.
I have all the games that are now listed in bundles and I like all of them (that includes both Sports Resort and Mario Kart). But maybe I'm not the average guy. I'm almost 30, a dentist, I have a wife and we are expecting a baby, we own a black SUV, a 42 inch plasma and a passion for Mario and Donkey Kong. Both of us.:D
