Spotted this on saturday in the grocery department in Dunnes Store - Ilac centre, just beside the self service cash till.

Very similar to this one, reduced now to 25 euro

Although some of chairs like this one in Dunnes or ones from Viking etc are cheap as chips, however if you plan on sitting in it for an hour or more a day dont expect it to last more than a couple of months. I went through 3 cheap ones before i got a decent one which i still have. Some of the decent ones you can find on special offers too so they are not all mad expensive. I got mine from a site www.deskchairsandtables.ie which is a special offer site for the office furniture suppliers www.jmofficeinteriors.ie they have a good selection and some decent offers. I got a 'vantage' chair which is a basic enough operators chair but does the job and came with a 5 year guarantee. You could do a lot worse.

Great first post  do you have an affiliation with the companies above?

For what its worth, I managed to buy one of this chairs from Dunnes last Wednesday reduced from €50 to €25, just after scrolling through this website I come across this,

    http://www.jmofficeinteriors.ie/executiveseating.html

The one I got in Dunnes is literally the same. €155 vs €25 ? mhhhh

By the way its a very comfortable office chair with proper leather. Great bargain

I bought a cheapo Viking back when I was doing my Junior cert. I subsequently did my leaving cert (10 years ago!), a law degree, masters, studied to be solicitor and spend many many hours on that bloody chair.

It is still like new (pretty much)

Those chairs from viking look fine and are comfortable etc, all im saying is that i had one for my computer desk i work at and would be using it 5/6 hours per day 5 days a week and they did not last for me...I just pointed out www.deskschairsandtables.ie as that is where i got a chair that has done the job i needed even though it costs over 3 times the other. No need to shout was just giving my experience. There is a reason why companies dont go to Dunnes or Viking for there office chairs thats all im saying but most people will find the chair above will suffice for their needs and at €25 its hard to argue with that.

+1 I bought the Viking chair about 3 yrs ago and it has been used for at least 6/7 hours per day 7 days a week during that time. It is still as good as the day it was bought.

I got a Viking chair about a year or two ago? It was posted on here in the bargain alerts (though i stupidly paid full price, it's been on sale ever since). Berlin chair or something it's called.

Costs about €50 and I have two of them for about a year together and they're still as strong as day one. Also have an argos chair I paid about €100 for three years ago. It's also going strong as ever. Would be very curious about this Dunnes one though.

Will pop into the Drogheda store tomorrow and take a mooch. Cheers OP.

If you look at the two, they're quite obviously different. The officeinteriors one looks to have much better leather, different arms and more adjustments.

I've always used the cheapo viking direct chairs at home, gone through 3 in 12 years and they do the job - but they aren't particularly comfortable or supportive.

Got a freebie of a cloth office chair from an uncle that cost around €300 new(it was 7 or 8 years old at that stage), my god the difference was amazing. So much more comfortable, even though it looked like it cost half what the viking chairs did.

I still buy cheap, but unlike some others I'm under no illusions about it :pac:

Was actually on the town and forgot about it. Bah. If I remember to check (will be on the town again on Friday) I'll let you know (if I forget again, I'll let you know, too, so you're not waiting for an answer).

Ja. "Ich bin ein Berliner!" *

    * Possible translation: "I am a jelly doughnut!". The locals knew what JFK meant.

Got one in Blackpool in Cork, they had like another 4 when I left. Just put it together, its not as a bad as you might think a 30 euro office could be. It has gas lift and can be tilted, which is for the best as its default angle is bolt upright. Its probably a bit harder than your average office chair, bit its still pretty comfy and its sturdy.
