    Hi,

I need to get to Ennis by 5:30 tomorrow afternoon, leaving from Sandyford. Anyone know how long that takes since the latest openings? If you have it from the red cow that's grand too.

    Thanks

Thanks for that. I looked at google maps, they're missing three motorway sections. I reckon I could save at least half an hour on that but I'd love to hear from someone who has done it since the limerick bit opened a couple of weeks ago.

My advice would be drive m7/n7 to Limerick and by-pass the city using the ring road and the tunnel. Apart from a section from Borris in Ossory to Nenagh it is all motorway now. Then from Limerick to Ennis you would be on a dual carriageway. I currently drive from the red cow to limerick in about 2 hours. From the red cow to Ennis should be doable in about 2:40 but you would have to pay two tolls. If you are not in a hurry you can bypass both of the tolls quite easily.

Google maps doesn't seem to have any of the open M7 south of Portlaoise or the Limerick tunnel

I do this trip regularly using the old roads, ie bypassing tolls via Mountrath, and Limk City and can easily do it easily in 3 1/2 hours day time which would include a coffee stop off.

The only thing you have to watch out for on the old roads is the increase with Garda speed traps particularly coming in and out of towns on the way.
